Ed Reed was a recreational swimmer when he met Ted Haartz at the Waltham Boy’s Club in Massachusetts. He was recruited by Ted to join two others (Hal Onusseit and Warren French) and drive in May of 1971 to Amarillo, TX, for the second National Masters meet. They joined together for the 45+ relays, representing New England Masters.
Ed was eventually tapped by Ted to become the volunteer records and Top Ten recorder for USMS men’s individual events and men’s relays. He served in this position for many years, before finally handing off the job to Walt Reid.
Ed received the Capt. Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award along with Enid Urich in 1980.
