Dan Gruender co-founded Arizona Masters Swimming in the early 1970’s along with his wife Edie Gruender, and both “parented” the organization for nearly two decades. Seeing a lack of year around swimming pools, they built a 3-lane 25-yard pool in their backyard and hosted swim gatherings, including meets! Dan was an energetic “booster” of all things Masters and brought his invaluable experience as an attorney to the organization.

Dan chaired the Ransom Arthur Committee for a number of years before receiving the Capt. Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award himself in 1989. He was also a member of the Insurance and Legislation committees during that time.
