Reverend Dr. Denise Brown was an accomplished pool and open water swimmer for 30 years and an indefatigable volunteer for Michigan LMSC. She served as Secretary since 2010 and as Open Water Chair. On the national level, she served on the USMS Open Water Committee. Denise volunteered as a Masters Coach and coached the Napoleon (OH) High School swim team and Napoleon (OH) USA-Swimming Club. She applied for a grant to teach swimming to adults with physical and intellectual disabilities; these adults would become members of USMS. Denise’s compassion and boundless energy was appreciated across many layers of the swimming world.
