Ed Coates, a member of the Texas Longhorn Aquatics Masters team, served as Chair of the South Texas LMSC for over ten years. Coates' human resource skills placed him in charge or on national committees that dealt with employee compensation, benefits, succession and contracts. He helped plan the USMS SCY Nationals in 2008 and South Central Zone Championships in 2013. Ed assembled relays, promoted postal events and cheered others on. He also invited people into his lane and helped organize team “happy hours.” Always there to cheer others on, Coates served as an ambassador to Masters Swimming.
