U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

A valued member of Sierra Nevada Masters for over 25 years, John immersed himself in club business as soon as he retired. He became club president and livened up the board by drafting a new board of directors. He also revamped the Donner Lake Swim Committee. One of the major open water swims on the Pacific Masters calendar, the DLS typically sold out right after registration opened. With John’s leadership, SNM was able to host a second USMS Open Water National Championship at Donner Lake. He also led the way to establishing the first LCM meet held east of the Sierra in over twenty years. SNM and the Carson City Tiger Sharks co-hosted the vent. Finally, John worked tirelessly with the City of Reno to get SNM back in the water at local pools curing the Covid-19 pandemic.
