Phil was recognized as the “voice of swimming” for over two decades. He was editor-in-chief and media officer of Swimming World Magazine and its website SwimmingWorldMagazine.com for 14 years, producing 170 issues before retiring in 2006. As editor of SWIM Magazine, Phil constantly wrote about Masters athletes and achievements, promoting the Masters movement worldwide. An author of eighteen books and over one hundred articles on a variety of subjects, he published pioneering studies on exercise, including the effects of exercise in forestalling biological and psychological aging. Phil was acknowledged as one of the world’s leading authorities on swimming.
